Merida Matts TFS 500 (2012) Value for money mid-range Mountain Bike

The bike above is the Matts TFS 500 (2012). It comes with Alloy frame and weighs approx 12kg.

This bike comes with 2012 Shimano Deore 10 speed groupset which lean towards the high end Shimano components. This bike also comes with Shimano Hollowtech 2 crankset and Shimano hydraulic brakes.

The bike is fitted with Rock Shox XC 30 push lock suspension fork which is also a 2012 model. I can't find this model it in the website at all. Probably the website is not yet updated.

The cost of this bike is about RM3200 - RM3500. In my opinion this is a value for money mountain bike as it is light weight, comes with Shimano Deore Groupset which never disappoints in it's smooth gear change and you don't need to spend extra cash for upgrades if you are a beginner or intermediate cyclist.

  3. Hello.wonder if u can help me.
I'm considering to buy Merida Matt 70 or Merida Matt 500. Considering both have same specifications. Difference is Matt 70 ( uses SRAM, tectro brake). Price difference is about rm1000.
Is really worth the money to go for Matt 500.

    1. Hi I would say the Matts 500 is more worth it as it has 30 speeds compare to Matts 70. Furthermore, the frame of the Matts 500 is better and it comes with a better suspension fork.

I suggest go and test ride both bikes and feel which one is smoother and buy the one you like. :)
